more trains and play time
Every Monday morning is spent cleaning the house. Since this Monday is the last cleaning day until Santa arrives, we decided it needed to be extra sparkly. Tyler was all about it helping out where he could by dusting anything he could reach. Around 9:45 I finally told him we were going to take a break and since he was an extra big help today we were going to have a special adventure. We drove to the Hershey Historical Museum to see the holiday train exhibit. He was so excited and said "this is making me really happy" and jumped up and down. And the entire way there he kept saying "this is a special adventure Mommy, I can't wait." Very sweet.
Tyler loved pushing all the little buttons. I couldn't believe how extensive the display was and was thrilled we came. Matty was good and kept walking over to the corner where there were stairs and he played there for a long. I will say it's much, much easier to go to things like this with Daddy along. For all sorts of reasons, I was missing Daddy today!

writing time!!!
I was getting Tyler ready for bed tonight. He'd just taken a bath and was drawing while I was looking for his PJ's. He asked me to help him with the letter 'e' and I explained a way to write it. Next thing you know Tyler shows me what he wrote. I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT!!!
It was the very first time I ever saw Tyler write his name ALL by HIMSELF! I was sooo proud of him and definitely made a huge deal out of it.

Antique Auto Museum and Tree Decorating Party
We didn't have any plans this morning and wanted to do something fun and special as a family. When we told Tyler that we're going to the Antique Auto Museum to see the train display you would have thought we'd all won the lottery. He was so excited and jumping up and down all morning. We left right before 9:00 and were one of the first families there. We tried walking through part of the museum but he really just wanted to see the trains. I don't blame him.
He loved the big display, but also really enjoyed playing with the Thomas set. We probably stayed at the museum for 2 and a half hours and, of course, when we said it was time to go, Tyler quickly replied "no Mommy I want to stay here forever."

We then went to a new place for us, Sorrentos. This was just as fun for us as the museum. The restaurant was SO accommodating and understanding and answered all the questions we had with great patience and willingness. I was amazed at how welcome they made us feel. The food was delicious. The boys were so well behaved and it will definitely be a place we hopefully frequent in the future.
I was talking to Mom late in the afternoon and she invited us over for a spur of the moment tree decorating party. It was a perfect way to end such a special day. Tyler and Matty were both in such great moods. (it's so nice to finally have our usual happy, nice boys back!) Tyler really did help with all the ornaments and was equally excited about each one. Pat, Willa, and Bea were able to make it too. And Tyler kept singing all of his Christmas songs and seemed to especially like jumping out of the huge plastic bin that Mom used to store the ornaments.
I love how this has become a new tradition of sorts. Decorating their tree is tons of fun to do with the three generations. Grammy and Baca are always in the best mood and this year is so magical with Tyler really believing in the magic of the season. What a joy it is to experience Christmas with your children and your parents. I feel so blessed.
