Nutcracker evening

We rode the subway back to Pete and Lauren's apartment and found a happy, silly Matty waiting for us. It was clear he enjoyed the company of Danita. It was almost 5:00, so I quickly made some pasta and the kids had a nice, easy meal with the gang. The NYC Freers included us in their Hanukkah celebration and were able to teach us a new perspective. Ty loved watching the candles burn and enjoyed opening a gift from Zach and Julia. We also had some visitors! Marina, Pawel, and Phil were able to visit for about an hour. It's always nice to see them especially in their city!
Matty discovered the Maracas after dinner and wouldn't stop playing with them.
Gotta love the pasta sauce all over his face!
Fun time with his Godfather! Matty was in a much better mood than during Thanksgiving break, so it was nice for the family to see him in his usual happy, goofy mood that we know and love.
Matty slept in the closet and Ty "chose" the bathroom for his bedroom and they were both fast asleep by 7:15. It was a lot of fun to wake up with the gang and just hang out. The kids played and played and at one point T discovered this costume and was such a happy camper wearing it around the apartment. Just before we had to leave, Zach asked him if he wanted to keep it and Tyler just looked up at him and then at me and was looking like "really? can I please?!" He wore the costume the whole way home and wouldn't take it off until bath time. Needless to say, he LOVES it! What a sweet gesture of Zach and his family. We were all really sad to leave (especially T who kept saying "I want to stay here forever") but realized it's something we need to do more often.
