Dumper Dan

I made a Blondie cake earlier this week with cinnamon icing. The entire gang really enjoyed it because it disappeared after 2 days. During this morning's breakfast Tyler asked if we could make another one because "it was delicious Mommy." How do you say no to a child who almost never, ever makes a request for food? I don't, in fact, I jump up and down and said "yes, of course I will"! Tyler seemed so excited to help today. He asked to sit at the stool next to all the action. He said "Mommy, I'm Dumper Dan" as he kept dumping all the measured ingredients into the bowls. He'd laugh and then tap the bottom of the measuring cup to get any remaining ingredients out. It's apparently a perfect example of monkey see, monkey do.

After finishing the cake and putting it in the pan, Tyler looked at me and said "I wuv (love) you, Mommy" and gave me a big hug. It was such a sweet moment and then quickly interrupted by asking me "can I have a lick please, please can I have a lick?" I'd like to think he really does "wuv" me, but I also think he's starting to get more and more clever. Either way, I got a hug out of it!
He took one lick and said "ummmm, ummm it's delicious" and went back to licking the bowl. Dumper Dan was a big help today and my hope is some day he'll be just as helpful in his family's kitchen...until then, I love hearing "Mommy, I wuv you".
